St. Joseph Students' Art Showcased at Knoxville Museum of Art
Three exceptionally talented students from St. Joseph School were pleasantly surprised when their individual pieces of artwork were selected for the Third Annual East Tennessee Student Art Exhibition. Eighth grader Stan Pickering and 7th graders Angelica Tomas and Bridget Anderson were among students from public, private, and home schools (Grades 6-12) whose works were selected by the Tennessee Art Education Association Panel. The panel received 910 artworks and accepted 287 for the exhibition. Of course, St. Joseph School’s art teacher, Mrs. Gae Sharp, was also excited to learn of her students’ accomplishments. “Attending this event was an overwhelming experience for me. To step into a museum and see my students artwork displayed among artwork of other extremely talented individuals was truly extraordinary.” A reception for the Student Art Exhibition took place on December 2 at the Knoxville Museum of Art.

Musical Performance
On Wednesday, November 19, staff and all students at St. Joseph School were treated to a strings repertoire led by Mr. Steve Benne, a member of the Knoxville Symphony, who teachers this group of talented individuals several times a week. Their performance included "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", "Ghost of John", and "First Scale March." Mr. Benne has been sharing his God-given talents with the students of St. Joseph School since 1999. He appreciates the support of all the parents and is always encouraged by the extra work the students put forth into learning their instruments.
